Your adventure begins with a transfer from the airport or bus station to the Palotoa Amazon Travel office for registration (passport and flight numbers).
We will board a boat for a journey down the Madre de Dios River to the lodge. After a one-hour ride, we will arrive at the lodge, where you will be welcomed with a refreshing exotic fruit juice.
You will be shown to your room and have time to unpack and rest. Afterward, we’ll embark on a tour to the canopy tower, standing 40 meters high. From here, you can marvel at the Amazon Jungle's vastness and spot monkeys, parrots, macaws, snakes, and various insects.
Your guide will explain the lush vegetation, some trees being over 500 years old. After this amazing experience, we will go on a boat ride at night along the Madre de Dios River to search for caimans. You may also spot capybaras, the largest rodents in the world, weighing up to 50 kg.
Upon return to the lodge, we will share some time together and enjoy a typical Amazonian dinner.
We will board the boat and head toward the Tambopata National Reserve. After a 3-kilometer walk, we will reach the stunning Sandoval Lake, home to a diverse array of wildlife, including birds, monkeys, and sloths.
After a local lunch, we’ll take a boat ride to get closer to the wildlife on the lake. If we're lucky, we might spot endangered giant otters or large black caimans (the biggest recorded was five meters long). On the way back to the lodge, we will enjoy a beautiful sunset.
After returning, we’ll share dinner, and you’ll have plenty of free time to rest, explore, or enjoy the views of the river.
After breakfast, we will take a short walk into the jungle to reach a small river, where we’ll have the opportunity to fish for piranhas. Once we return to the lodge, we will enjoy a hearty lunch and some free time for a nap.
In the afternoon, we will venture back into the jungle for a thrilling adventure tour with various outdoor activities. You’ll be guided by a specialist who will provide insights about the environment and ensure your safety during this adrenaline-filled experience.
After the exciting day, we will return to the lodge to enjoy dinner and rest.
On the final day, we will wake up early for a trip on the motorized boat to a parrot clay lick. Here, you will see different species of parrots feeding on clay, a behavior believed to help neutralize toxins in their diet.
After returning to the lodge for a quick meal, we will visit a local indigenous family living in the jungle. You will learn about their lifestyle, customs, and traditions, guided by an expert who will explain how they coexist with nature and the local community.
After lunch, we will transfer you back to Puerto Maldonado, where you’ll be dropped off at the bus station or airport, depending on your transport schedule.
The tour start usually depends on your arrival time. When you make a reservation, choose a time close to your arrival and then send us your arrival information to pick you up and start the tour.
Tours end around 3:00 pm, then transfer to the airport and/or bus terminal. But if you have an earlier return flight ticket, let your guide know. He will contact the office, and our transport service will take you to the airport and leave you 2 hours before your flight.
You can coordinate with our staff so that you can leave later if you wish, and you can also do some extra activity.

The Tambopata 4-Day Tour was a fantastic introduction to the Amazon. From the boat rides to the jungle treks, it was full of wildlife encounters—monkeys, birds, and even a caiman. The clay lick experience with the macaws was a real highlight. The lodge was basic but comfortable, and the guide was informative. It’s a great option if you’re short on time but still want to experience the Amazon’s beauty up close.
