Manu Amazon is the most visited part of the jungle, primarily due to its close proximity to Cusco. This allows travelers to easily join the tour before or after visiting Machu Picchu or hiking the Inca Trail.
National Park Manu Peru is home to over 32 indigenous Quechua-speaking communities who have maintained their traditions and customs. Countless species of birds and animals also inhabit this region. In 1987, UNESCO recognized Manu as a World Heritage Site.
The Amazon Rainforest is the largest rainforest in the world, and Manu dominates a major part of the Peruvian Amazon Jungle.
National Park Manu Peru is the most visited destination in the Peruvian Amazon. The entire national park is spread over 1,532,806 hectares. The lush tiers of vegetation rise from 150 meters above sea level all the way up to 4200 meters. Manu National Park is divided into three zones – Manu Core Zone, Biosphere Reserve, and Cultural Zone.
Access to the Manu Core Zone is restricted to scientists and researchers. The Biosphere Reserve or the Manu Reserved Zone, which dominates the major part of the national park, has many trails and is popular among travelers. The Manu Cultural Zone is where the local communities live.

We will be picking you up from your hotel in Cusco at 06:00 AM. Then in our private transport, we will be driving you from the Andes to Amazon. As the journey is a bit long, we will be having a couple of stops at some interesting spots on our way.
Our first stop will be at a remote Andean town called Ninamarca. It is home to the pre-Inca funeral towers from the Lupacas civilization. We will give you a complete guided tour of the site.
We will then continue our drive to Paucartambo, a folkloric town. The colonial church and the cobblestone streets of Paucartambo will take you back in colonial times. From here, we will be driving up the hill and stop at a viewpoint of Tres Cruces. From here you will have a stunning view of the Amazon basin.
We will descend through the eastern slope to Manu National Park. We will begin the Manu Jungle Tours by doing a short hike. On this short hike, we will be spotting the Peruvian National Bird – Andean Cock of the Rock. Here we will also spot different species of monkeys.
Once you have had your fill of this sight, we will drive you to the Rainforest lodge. Lunch and Dinner included.
Early in the morning, after breakfast, we will be travelling to Atalaya Port. On our way, we will be stopping at a couple of farms where you can see native farmers producing tropical fruits. We will also be visiting the coca plantations here.
We will then embark on our boat for a journey on Madre de Dios river. On this journey, you will be able to see different species of birds namely parrots, vultures and more. We will stop at a hot spring where you can take a refreshing dip.
After lunch, we will be hiking to spot some native mammals and rodents. We will then continue our journey to Amazon Lodge, reaching by 04:00 PM. We will be serving you a typical Amazonian meal for dinner. Later that night, we will have the option of doing a night tour to spot some nocturnal creatures.
After a rich Amazon breakfast, we will be leaving the Amazon Lodge. We will be leaving behind the clear waters of Madre de Dios river and will be entering the clay-laden waters of Manu river. On our way, we will be stopping at the Limonal park rangers' office to show our permits.
From here we will be travelling for five hours upstream to Manu Biosphere Reserve. On the shores of the river, you will see different nesting birds and feeding herons, egrets, terns, and more. At some point, you will also be able to see White and Black Caimans and side-necked turtles.
Over a hundred sand-colored nightjars rest here during the day. Also, the region is home to the world’s third-largest cat – Jaguars and Red Howler Monkeys. We will be stopping for lunch by the river. We will then reach Casa Matsiguenka Lodge.
The lodge is managed by the natives from the Matsiguenka community. In the afternoon, we will be hiking one of the trails to spot some animals and learn about the native plants.
After dinner, we can do a night safari to spot more nocturnal creatures.
After breakfast, we will be spending the day on the Cocha Salvador Oxbow lake canoeing. From the viewpoint here, you will be able to spot Agami Heron and Brown Capuchin Monkeys. Here you will also get to see giant river otters.
We will spend the rest of our day hiking on the Matsiguenka trails. We will be spotting 13 different species of monkeys. Your tour guide will be explaining about the rainforest’s ecosystems and the use of medicinal plants.
After a delicious lunch, we will visit the macaw clay lick, where we will enter a hiding house to see the macaws eating the clay on a cliff.
We will also be spotting groups of peccaries. After the tour, we will return to the lodge for dinner.
After breakfast, we will be taking the motorboat for a downstream ride for three hours. We will then explore the beautiful lake. Here we will be sauntering through the forest of Cocha Brahsco.
This is one of the highlights on your tours to Manu National Park as you will also get to see Woolly and Black Spider Monkeys. You will learn about plant life while listening to the rustle of vegetation and soft sounds of fruits falling on the ground.
We will also be on a catamaran boat on the lookout for a large family of Giant Otters that inhabit this lake.
We will be checking out of the lodge quite early in the morning. Then we will travel on the Madre De Dios river for five hours to our own Palotoa Lodge. The lodge is located in the heart of the Manu National Reserve.
We will spend a relaxed afternoon amidst the beautiful jungle setting. In the evening, we will hike to the pristine areas of the jungle to a viewpoint on a cliff. From here you will have a beautiful view of roosting flights of parrots and macaws at sunset.
We will then return to the lodge for dinner. After dinner, we will do a night tour in the reserve to spot some nocturnal creatures.
After breakfast, we will be exploring the other part of the forest. Our guide will be explaining the importance of the plants found here. You will be able to see different species of biodiversity. We will be spending the evening by setting a beautiful campfire next to the lodge.
Early in the morning, we will be taking the boat back to Atalaya port. Here we will meet our driver who will drive us back to Cusco.
Located in the southeast of Peru, in the provinces of Paucartambo in Cusco and Manu in Madre de Dios. It has an area of 1’717’295.22 hectares.
Manu is at 130 kilometers from Cusco city traveling by road, which interacts as a gateway to the Manu National Park. You can also get to Puerto Maldonado by land from Cusco or by air through Lima. From there you can ride the mother river of God by boat and you can get to the Manu Reserve. but it is more far and expensive.
The best time to visit the Peruvian Jungle is between April and November, during the dry season. The rainy season is from February to March, when access by road becomes more difficult and when the paths in the forest can be flooded.
The Manu National Park is divided into three parts: cultural zone or buffer zone, reserved zone or core zone and the intangible zone. The cultural zone and the reserved zone are for tourist use. The intangible zone is used exclusively for scientific studies and with special permits. More details see section Manu.
It is not a requirement, but one must be able to walk a path of several kilometers to fully enjoy what Manu has to offer.
In the Manu National Park there are no reports of cases of yellow fever, malaria and malaria, however, if you want to stay longer in tropical places, it is better to consult with your doctor.
